We believe that you learn a language best when you have maximum exposure to it. For that reason, the language you are learning will be the language of the course. Instructions, interactions and feedback will all be in the language you are learning. Obviously, at beginner levels language will be very simple and there will be plenty of images and other tools to aid you in your understanding. People can sometimes be a little worried about this at beginner levels, but trust us, it works and is proven to be an effective way to learn! Another reason for conducting courses in the language you are learning is because we may have learners from all over the world with many different language backgrounds, so we use the one language to keep it fair to everyone.

Within the school we encourage you to always try to communicate in the language you are learning, even if you know it will not be entirely accurate - practice makes perfect! If, however, you really do feel lost, this is where your classmates can help. We encourage you to connect with each other outside of the course - on the phone, on social media or even in person if you are geographically close. They may be able to help you. If you still really do not understand, then contact your teacher directly - they can generally communicate in a variety of languages.

Currently, our courses are designed for ages 16 and over. Keep up to date with Language Cafe news, however, because maybe in future we will offer courses for younger learners.
