INGREDIENTS
What are the Language Café learning principles?
Community
Communication is the main aim of learning a language and for this, we need other people. Whether teacher-guided or self-access, our courses give you opportunity to communicate with other learners. Through our platforms and social media spaces, we encourage you to connect and become part of a community.
Multicultural
Language does not belong to one nation - it travels and changes with us. For this reason, our courses expose you to a range of accents and varieties. We also introduce you to different cultures and encourage you to share your own. At Language Café, we are united in our differences.
Digital
Technology helps us learn language while digital skills are vital in today's world. At Language Café, we help you improve your digital skills at the same time as learning language. We also understand that not everyone comes to our courses with expert digital skills, so we build guidance in for managing the technology.
Gamified
Language learning should be fun! In partnership with Esmerise and Gather, our platform providers, our courses are gamified. Play games, create avatars, collect points, top the leaderboards, and win rewards for your learning and participation. This will keep you motivated!
Sustainable
We have just one planet and it will take a collective effort to protect it. At Language Café, we try to be environmentally-friendly in our approaches and materials. We also introduce you to the United Nations Sustainable Developments Goals throughout our courses.
Accessible
We aim to make our courses accessible and inclusive of all learners. We have enabled a range of accessibility features, such as captions and large text. We also appreciate that people learn in different ways, so we offer a range of activities, input and feedback.
